In this installment of our Agent Spotlight series at Southwest Florida REGroup, we’re taking a look behind the scenes and interviewing our head transaction coordinator, Teresa Ferguson. Let’s learn more about her expertise, and get to know her a bit better outside of the real estate world.
What do you love about real estate, why’d you get into real estate in the first place?
My husband, Damon, and I were relocated to Tampa for his job in 2013 where his parents worked in Real Estate at the time. They informed me that their Broker was looking for help in their property management division, so I interviewed for that and was hired. That Broker required me to get licensed and I worked in that position until Damon’s job transferred us down to Ft Myers a couple of years later. That is when I met Alex and Scott, who had just started SWFL REGROUP and were interviewing for a Listing/ Transaction Coordinator. I did Event Coordination for 10 years after college, prior to working in Property Management, so I thought this would be a perfect combo of both. Thankfully, I was right, and was offered the job so, here we are!!
Is there a particular part of this job that you love most?
Selling or buying a house is a huge life event – it’s one of the biggest transactions a person will undertake in their lifetime. As a TC, I am the person by their side throughout the whole process, there to provide our clients with reassurance and peace of mind that the transaction will go smoothly. Helping our clients on a daily basis and seeing the results of my actions is what I love about it most. I am also thankful that I can do this job from anywhere at any time.
What do you do for fun?
Well…not much because I work a lot, have two toddlers and spend my weekends doing my mommy and wifey duties, (groceries, meal prep, cleaning, laundry, etc) but when I do have free time, I enjoy going to the pool or the lake to catch some rays, binge-watching TV, going on date nights with my Hubs or hanging out with friends.
Favorite restaurant?
Eating is one of my favorite things to do so I have many, but I would say Carrabbas and Bonefish Grill are my faves. I love pizza and sushi too!
What keeps you motivated? What are your keys to success?
My position and my work ethic keep me motivated. I look at everything as a task to be completed and will not stop until the tasks are done.
My key to success is using lists, lists and more lists. Damon jokes that I make lists of lists and I really do lol. Paying attention to detail and being organized is another.
How does our system, (which you helped create) benefit our agents in your opinion?
The systems that Alex and Scott have created, with a little bit of help from me, hold us all accountable, which is super important in this business because it’s easy to get lazy when you are your own boss. They also help us stay organized and on track to help simplify the process overall.
