In this installment of our Agent Spotlight series at Southwest Florida REGroup we’re interviewing Tarek Obeissy, who specializes in SWFL Real Estate. Let’s learn more about his buying/selling expertise, as well as get to know him a bit better outside of the real estate world.
What do you love about real estate, why’d you get into real estate in the first place?
I love helping others. Real estate allows me to help folks find the place they want to call home, and also oftentimes with the largest investment they will ever make in their lives. I do not take that lightly. I got into real estate after buying my first home. During that transaction I realized that I wanted to be way more involved in the process. As someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, I wanted to be involved in the tough negotiations and I wanted to represent my wife and myself. Looking back, I have had a passion for real estate since I was a young boy (probably because my mom and dad moved us all over the place), it just took me a while to realize that I wanted to spend my life helping others find their dream homes and investment opportunities. They say if you do what you love you will never work a day in your life, and real estate has never felt like work to me. I absolutely love it!
Is there a particular area in Southwest Florida you concentrate on (or love to work in)?
I love to work in Naples, Bonita, Estero and Fort Myers. I have lived in Naples, Estero and Fort Myers. My family owns several businesses in Bonita Springs so I know all of these areas very well. I moved from NJ to Naples in 2008 and couldn’t be happier in this paradise that we call home.
What do you do for fun?
For fun I like to spend quality time with my wife and son Theodore who will be turning 3 in September. We love getting out on the water, fishing, going to the beach and exploring new places! I am also a big soccer fan so I like to catch a game here and there when I have the time!
If you know me then you know that I am a bit of a foodie! Some of my favorite meals are good old home cookin! As for a favorite restaurant, it would be hard for me to pick just one (depends what kind of food we are in the mood for). I really like Maks in Fort Myers off of Daniels Blvd. They have great sushi and the best general Tso’s chicken I have ever had. I really like fresh fish that we catch, fried chicken, pizza, BBQ and breakfast foods!
What are your keys to success?
My keys to success would be trying my best in everything that I do, work ethic, consistency and probably above all, how much I care about my clients. I will move heaven and Earth for those closest to me, and when you work with me in real estate you become a part of my inner circle. I will move heaven and Earth for you too! Also my education and background in finance and retail has really helped me build a strong foundation in the real estate space.
How has our system worked for you?
Joining the Southwest Florida RE Group was the best decision I have made since getting into real estate. Systems and processes are hugely important in any business! Learning from my mentors and other top producers here on our team has really shown me how to be successful in real estate.
Any tips for new agents?
My tips for new agents (other than joining our team) would be consistency, positivity, processes and to simply talk to as many people as you can about real estate! As a new agent you are starting your own business, and that comes with seemingly endless tasks, things to learn and it can feel overwhelming at times. Every top-producing agent here in SWFL has dealt with this also. Just remember to go step by step, and don’t be too hard on yourself. If you put in the time, you will reap the rewards. Don’t compare yourself to others, focus on how you can improve and try to get a little bit better everyday.
